Lady Windermere's Fan

This is the set for 'Lady Windermere's Fan' that was on at the Lighthouse theatre in Poole in February 2010.
My main inspiration was a circle in which Victorian society 'circles' around itself, unaware of a world outside of match making and gossip.
I tried to achieve a big contrast between a female and male world. The drawing room of Lady Windermere represents the female world of marriage and trying to live up to the victorian ideals of purity and 'the angel in the house'. Lord Darlington's room represents the male world of Victorian society, a world of pleasure and double morale.

Seraglio

This is some of my design development and final designs for the opera 'The abduction from the seraglio'.

House Woman

These are film stills and costume sketches from 'House Woman', a short film by Claire Kurylowski. The costume budget was 150 pounds and we sourced most of the costumes from charity shops and various wardrobes and ended up making the white dress in the picture below.

Earnest

This is my work for 'The Importance of being Earnest' by Oscar Wilde. The idea was that Oscar Wilde watches the strange ways of Victorian society under a bell jar. The costume designs were therefore loosely inspired by beetles, other insects and exotic plants.
